10th Leicester (Syston) Scout Group

A Little Bit About Us…

We are 10th Leicester (Syston) Scout Group!

We change lives by offering 6- to 14-year-old young people fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and skills for life.

Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.

10th Leicester (Syston) Scout group is one of the first recorded scout groups in the world and has been in the local community for 100 years. We provide activities and events for children and young people in the local community as well as providing a safe place for them to go. The age range of the young people are between 6-18 and we currently have over 100 people using the hall on a weekly basis. A varied programme includes learning new skills, camping, climbing, team building, archery, navigation and many more.

Our scout group accepts all children and families and it is essential we are able to provide scouting for all because it has so many benefits to young peoples confidence, skills and future prospects.

Our organisation is led and run solely by volunteers who take up their time to raise funds for the group therefore any donations and grants are greatly appreciated because we can use it to improve peoples scouting experience. All of the leaders and volunteers are dedicated and passionate about scouting and understand how beneficial it is for young people and the local community.

As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life. We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more.

We believe in bringing people together.

We celebrate diversity and stand against intolerance, always. We’re part of a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures.

We will have prepared more young people with skills for life, supported by amazing leaders delivering an inspiring programme. We will be growing, more inclusive, shaped by young people and making a bigger impact in our communities.

We are proud to say we are a values-based movement. Our Scout values of integrity, respect, care, belief and cooperation guide everything we do.

Each week, we give over 130 young people the opportunity to enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed, now and in the future. We’re talking about teamwork, leadership and resilience – skills that have helped Scouts become everything from teachers and social workers to astronauts and Olympians.
